Ancient Studies

Service Description

In this session children will study Ancient Studies, (a mix of History, Geography, RE of Ancient Civilisation), guided by the teacher. Ancient Studies allows young witches and wizards to explore the the world of the Ancient past - Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Celtic, Norse and more. We will learn about the myths and legends of Ancient Civilisations, the deities and key events. We will look at the history of Witchcraft, including the Pendle and Salem Witch Trials, and their relevance in modern society. We will look at the timeline and historical context of both trials, and others around the world, as well as reflecting upon what we can learn from the trials, the impact such persecution has, and the continued prevalence of 'witch hunts' within modern society. We will also look at the role of witches through time, and in cultures around the world, and how and what they celebrate, beliefs and key events in their lives. Children only need themselves and something to write with / on pen and paper and access to zoom. (coloured pencils would also be useful, but NOT ESSENTIAL) Anything else required will be provided.
