Service Description

Embark on a cultural and linguistic journey with Luna School's GCSE Latin Literature & Civilisation course. This course dives into the knowledge and understanding of Latin literature and its associated values and society. You will study original texts, adapted and abridged as appropriate, as well as select, analyse and evaluate evidence to draw informed conclusions. You will also gain an understanding of Roman civilisation, focussing on the City of Rome, as well as its impact on the modern world. Our engaging and comprehensive course will help students to relate their knowledge and understanding of the ancient world to other disciplines, as well as develop research and analytical skills. They will be empowered to become independent students and enquirers, equipping them for further study in arts, humanities and sciences. Our live sessions are 45 minutes long and will take place every Monday. Our Autumn 1 course will will lead you through the Roman Civilisation topics of 'The Beginnings of a City' and 'A City of Contrasts'. We will investigate captivating images, in Latin Literature. As part of the course, you will also be offered homework, self-study and revision activities and an end of unit test to assess your progress. Self-study only options are also available. This course will cover all aspects of the Latin Literature (30%) and Roman Civilisation (20%) elements of the Eduqas Latin exam. It does NOT include language, you will need to complete our GCSE Latin Language course, or your own, to sit this exam . It will also include research and essay writing.
